ALMATY. January 2. KAZINFORM - Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev in Almaty inspected the preparation of Universiade-2017 and the project of Kok Zhailau ski resort, the press service of Akorda reports.
Nursultan Nazarbayev had once again congratulated all Kazakhstani people on a Happy New Year, wishing the successful implementation of all their plans. The President noted the importance of the tourism industry for the Almaty region and the country as a whole.

"Today I have reviewed the proposals of the world's largest specialists concerning the development of mountain tourism. Already the Shimbulak ski resort allows thousands of Kazakhs to live a healthy lifestyle. New ski resort draft is important for our entire country. Tourism development in Almaty and the region will provide additional approximately 100,000 jobs. The dynamic progress of the city depends on the rational use of our mountains. In many European countries, people are taught to winter sports from an early age. A tourist attracted to the ski resort brings in 6 times more income than a tourist visiting warm countries and seas. And if we develop the tourism industry in this direction, it will create thousands of jobs, attract more investment, including for the environmental sphere. There will be used not only the Shimbulak complex, but the area and other places, with the nature to preserve its appearance", said the President of Kazakhstan.

In addition, the Head of State was presented a number of design objects of the future infrastructure "Universiade 2017", including layouts of ice arenas and an athletic village.

In his report on the preparation of the Universiade, Almaty Akim Yesimov announced completion of a feasibility study for the construction of two facilities - ice arenas with a capacity of 3000 and 12 000 spectators. For this purpose from the local budget were allocated KZT 439.9 million (tenge). Feasibility study of the project of the athletic village for 5000 places is being worked on.

Almaty Mayor noted that the beginning of construction works at these facilities is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014, and completion is in July 2016.
